Yes, the infamous music television network has done exactly that: a channel devoted to homosexuality. Think of it as the We Network or BET or Spike, except not for women or African Americans or manly men but homosexuals and lesbians. Many people obviously would think that it’s high time someone devoted a place people of a same-sex orientation could spend their time in front of the boob tube. Sorry, “Will and Grace,” or “Queer as Folk.” Move aside, “Queer Eye.” Because apparently this new network, entitled Logo, has brought to the forefront some real programming about homosexuality and its place in the world.
Since 2005, Logo has been on the air and providing quality programming for all homosexuals–whether you’re transvestite, lesbian, bisexual, gay, transgender, everything. Everything from “RuPaul’s Drag Race” to your standard hip reality TV show like “1 Girl, 5 Gays,” it’s got everything you could ever possibly need to be assured that you’re a valid part of society. These days, of course, it’s still tough. But definitely Logo has hit it in the right direction. The network has also featured many movies, like any other TV network, that highlights some form of homosexual content–whether it’s dating, sex, or even religion.
So far, the network has been doing well, and needless to say the associates at MTV are pleased. The truth is they’re full advocates of human rights, and it makes sense: with MTV’s “True Life” series, voting ads, inherent immersion in the public policy of many government and American issues out there, despite some of the odd fads in the music industry, you can’t be surprised that MTV started it all.
Check your cable provider–whether it’s DirecTV, or Dish, or Comcast. People can even use their laptops to watch some of the programming on Logo. If you’re interested in obtaining that network into your list of provided channels, put a word in. You can even visit Logo’s web site at LogoTV.com for more information. Just remember when you do to “sashay shante!” as RuPaul would say!
